Fun Music Activities
Fun music activities and group sessions bring music students together.
At Creative Music Theory we arrange scheduled group sessions from time to time. These sessions play a crucial role in the student’s journey towards reaching their full potential in music education. During group sessions, students build confidence and gauge their progress as they interact with peers in a fun and positive environment. Through dynamic online interactions, students engage in a myriad of enriching musical activities, enhancing their skills and enjoyment of music. These activities include:
- rhythm cup activities, incorporating back tracks,
- quizzes,
- participation in ensemble work,
- learning about music history, composers and their works.
Moreover, our students are empowered to unleash their innate musical creativity through diverse avenues. An annual composition project serves as a canvas for artistic expression while engaging in improvisational activities that encourage spontaneity and innovation. Each endeavor is carefully curated to nurture and amplify the student’s creative ability. Additionally, students leverage their accumulated knowledge from their piano skill level and apply this to their compositions, thus bridging theory with practice.
Recognizing the indispensable role of aural skills in musicianship, we meticulously integrate comprehensive aural training into our piano curriculum. Through our structured lessons, students develop essential auditory abilities, mastering techniques such as rhythm clapping, style identification, melody transcription, and cadence recognition. Other aural activities include sight singing, identifying tonalities in triads and short musical excerpts. Additionally, students become familiar with describing dynamics, articulation and style characteristics when hearing a piece of music played by the teacher. These foundational skills not only enhance their musical development but also instil a deeper appreciation and understanding of the intricate nuances inherent in music.
