Online Piano Lessons

Reviews

Read some reviews we have received from parents and students

We are very pleased with the music education we are receiving from our piano teacher, Mrs. Velia. Although we started out with her in person, we gave Zoom lessons a try – before Zoom was cool, pre-COVID. It has worked splendidly for our family. We have now participated in multiple online recitals as well. Those are pretty neat because there are people in attendance from all over the world, the Middle East, US, Canada, South Africa, and Europe.

One of the things I love about Mrs. Velia, besides her patience with the kids, is that she really focuses not only on technique but also on theory. The kids are learning to write their own compositions as well as gaining an understanding of the theory behind the music. She also does periodic group lessons as well.

We have nothing but good things to say about her and our children are learning to play the piano beautifully. I believe she has also fostered a love of music in them. Anywhere we go, they both gravitate to a piano if there is one in the room. Try Creative Music Theory, you won’t be disappointed!

My teacher is not just any music teacher. She is the best music teacher I have ever taken classes with. I have learned many things from her, such as music theory, proper playing techniques, scales, arpeggios, how to compose music, and so much more. She teaches me in a way that is very special because she establishes a special connection with me. Even though I take online lessons with her, it feels as if she is right there with me. Another thing that I love about my teacher is that she pays attention to all the details. She makes sure that you clearly understand all the subjects, and if you don’t, she takes the time to clarify all your doubts… All in all, she is really a true music teacher. She has gone above and beyond to teach me music!

My favorite thing is watching my son interact independently with his teacher. I don’t have to be by his side to assist him because the virtual interaction is done in a way that feels like you are together in person. My son is growing in confidence by working on his own with his teacher.

My son is able to very easily apply the theory content he learns in the workbook to his practical lessons. They go hand in hand and he does especially well when he practices right away what he has learned in theory.

When I remind my son that his lesson is coming up the next day, he anticipates it with excitement. He really enjoys getting a chance to “learn from the computer.” He also loves getting to interact with other students at the same time. The students look forward to seeing each other every week and exchange greetings with excitement when their friends hop on the call. He is competitive, so a small classroom setting pushes him to try harder to get the assignment done first or give the right answer. I think being part of a class makes him feel like he belongs to a community that he plays an important role in.

As a parent, I can see that my son is growing in his music skill and knowledge each week using this curriculum. Each new concept starts with basic knowledge and builds from there. It also incorporates review and visuals of how the theory applies to a real keyboard, keeping the previously learned concepts fresh in mind and easy to apply when he moves from the book to the piano.  I was honestly amazed at how much he learned and retained after just a short few weeks in The Creative Music Theory class.

I find the curriculum age appropriate in the way the material is presented; my son is able to absorb and understand what it teaches.

In summary, the online music theory classes have several benefits. The method of presentation and the material used to teach music theory, is something a young child can do independently. The child really enjoys the virtual classroom setting with a teacher and fellow students who interact with each other as if they are together in person. They don’t have to leave home to go to a class, so it saves time in our day for other things. I would even suggest the virtual classroom setting is more effective because there are not as many distractions as it might be sitting in class next to other students.

For us as parents, it has been an amazing experience watching our daughter develop her musical abilities with the support of her music teacher, in whom we found all the characteristics we were looking for in a music teacher… She has an extraordinary ability to build caring relationships with her students and their parents, which facilitates the exchange of information. Her deep knowledge and passion for music make her online music lessons inspiring to learn from. Additionally, her excellent communication and listening skills make her understandable but at the same time engaging. She is an excellent music teacher with an admirable work ethic. She is always there for my daughter, and she is always willing to help her.

As a mom and teacher, I am always amazed at how our children’s music teacher manages to make her online classes personal and effective. With questions, encouragement, directed practice and immediate feedback, she keeps her students engaged from the start of the lesson until the end.

Thanks to her thorough, enthusiastic and encouraging instruction, our children love playing the piano, have a solid foundation in music theory and have scored high scores on their…music exams. We’re so grateful to have her as our teacher!

Every week, I look forward to our piano online music lessons. My music teacher is such a great, caring, and patient teacher. She always remembers our birthdays and is quick to give praise or encouragement. She teaches in a pleasant and friendly way that is easy to understand. She is an amazing teacher!

Our teacher’s music instruction has always been invaluable to us. Her explanation of the theory work has helped to build a firm foundation for us, and I have found her teaching to be clear. She dealt patiently with us when we didn’t understand a concept, and simply helped us to overcome the problem. Our music teacher also helped us learn specific techniques, for example, she taught us the circle of fifths thoroughly, and this helped us to think clearly about scales. Overall, our teacher’s instruction has been clear and kind and has helped us to prepare well for exams and has built a strong musical foundation for us.

My online music lessons are very fun and helpful. My music teacher is very good at explaining things that are hard to understand, such as a hard theory problem or a tricky piece. She also works well with dealing with small, bad, playing habits that are hard to change back. All this put together makes a great music teacher!
